Traffic Tickets

Defending your licence, your record and your insurance rates

A traffic conviction can mean demerit points, higher insurance premiums, licence suspension and, for serious charges, jail. A ticket is not a foregone conclusion. We obtain disclosure, assess the Crown's evidence and fight for the best available result.

How we can help

  • Speeding, red light and stop sign tickets
  • Stunt driving and racing charges
  • Careless and dangerous driving
  • Driving while suspended and no insurance
  • Commercial vehicle and CVOR matters
  • Early resolution meetings with the prosecutor

How it works

  1. Review

Send us your ticket or summons. We check deadlines and what is at stake for your licence and insurance.

  2. Disclosure

We request the officer's notes and evidence and look for weaknesses in the case against you.

  3. Resolve

Where appropriate we negotiate with the prosecutor for a reduced charge or withdrawal.

  4. Trial

If it goes to trial we cross-examine witnesses and present your defence in court.

Frequently asked questions

How long do I have to respond to a ticket?

Generally 15 days from the date you received it to choose to pay, request a meeting or dispute the ticket. Late responses can result in a conviction by default.

Will paying the ticket hurt me?

Paying is a guilty plea. It adds demerit points and the conviction can raise insurance premiums for years.

Do I have to attend court myself?

In many cases a licensed paralegal can appear on your behalf. We will tell you if your personal attendance is required.

Not sure where to start?

Tell us what is going on. We will explain your options in plain language and let you know honestly whether we can help.
